nerospec leadership realised the synergistic potential of acquiring the skill set of the team from Normeco’s Oscon division. On the 1st August 2015 the Oscon division began operating from the Randburg premises under the banner of nerospecOSCON.
Lives matter to the International Mining Community. Resulting from a fatality which took place where an operator lost his life when the machine he was operating fell into the pond QMM opted to install Hard-Line Radio Remote Control (RRC) the excavator.
Following the successful pilot project, Normeco receives an order to fit the Oscon 3 Speed Brake Interlock device to the TMM fleet at Zimplats’ Ngezi mine in Zimbabwe.
Normeco receives an order to fit the Oscon Speed brake interlock device to a fleet of 50 utility vehicles. If successful, the device will be rolled out to the rest of the TMM fleet.
Normeco receives an order to fit the Oscon 2 device to 30 TMM’s at Anglo Platinum’s Unki Mine near Shurugwi in Zimbabwe.
Anglo Platinum’s Union Mines adopted the Oscon 2 SBI as the standard. Normeco received the order to fit the Oscon 2 SBI to the all LHD TMMs (Load-Haul-Dump Trackless Mine Machines).
The Oscon 2 prototype is fitted to a GHH 7.4 LHD at Unki Mine.
Sean Steyn (Former National Sales Manager, Operations Manager and Quality HOD for Becker Electronics is appointed as Divisional Manager of the Oscon Division.
The Oscon speed brake interlock device was developed by Normeco in accordance to Anglo Platinum scope of design to prevent mine machines from travelling too fast, automatically detecting that the machine is on a decline and reducing the speed limit accordingly. The machine parks in a lock-down state when a runaway condition is sensed, only to be released after inspection by authorised personnel issued using uniquely identified key tag.
